Miss Spider's Tea Party

Even those with confirmed arachnophobia will be charmed by the story of lonely Miss Spider™ who must overcome her insect neighbors’ fears and convince them she has no ulterior motive when she invites them to tea. Shunned by the other insects in spite of her many attempts to be a gracious hostess, Miss Spider™ wonders if she will ever have any friends. A sudden rainstorm intervenes, leaving a poor little moth so wet that she cannot fly away from the spider. The terrified moth discovers the spider’s kindness as Miss Spider™ dries her off and sends her on her way with a teacake. The little moth spreads the news about her rescue and the insects re-evaluate their assessment of Miss Spider ™. In the end, the insects join Miss Spider™ in a festive tea party, accepting her as part of their community. Miss Spider™ premiered in 1997 at the Akron Civic Theatre.
